Kaya's School-based Psychosocial Support

This past year, Kaya formed a critical relationship with a neighborhood school, Santa Rosa de Florida.  Many of the children in living in our homes attend this school, as do most of the children in the Kaya Center day program.

Two Interviews with Two Young Men

After graduating from high school, Juan Daniel and Ariel have begun their post-secondary schooling.  The interview below catches up with two of the four graduates of Kaya's first graduating class as they describe what they have learned over the years, the challenges they face now, and what keeps them going.

Job Opening: Executive Director

Kaya Children International is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic executive director that would be based in the Boston metropolitan area.  We are a Christian social welfare organization that serves the direct needs of street children and marginalized children in La Paz, Bolivia with three homes, a holistic care center/school, and a street outreach program.  Kaya Children International also partners with various organizations and churches to raise awareness, be engaged in advocacy and conduct research on behalf of the children.  

Meet Kaya's Boston Marathon Runner

April 6, 2010 -- Meet Kimberly Kreiling, Kaya Children’s runner for the 114th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 19th. “Part of my personal life statement is to support [Christ-centered] organizations serving the poor in developing countries,” says Kimberly, who works with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship on the Harvard University campus. So when she heard an announcement about running for Kaya, she jumped on the opportunity.

Chairman to Appear on Urban Update

March 1, 2010 -- Kaya founder and Chairman of the Board, Dr. Chi Huang, was interviewed by Byron Barnett of WHDH-TV’s Urban Update regarding his work on University of Massachusetts’s Emerging Leaders Program’s Anthology, Voices of the Future: Emerging Leaders, and with Bolivian street children.

November 24, 2009 -- Kaya Children has been accepted to participate in the GlobalGiving Open Challege and we need your help to achieve a permanent place in this program.

First Kaya kid to graduate as Valedictorian

October 5, 2009 -- Marcos, one of our first high school graduates and the first child to enter Kaya's residential program, recently received recognition as the valedictorian of his school’s graduating class. The ceremony included a presentation of other graduates in La Paz, a speech from the vice-mayor of La Paz’s Zona Sur, and the presentation of certificates. The ceremony also included a portion during which students were asked to express their ideas of how to confront the problem of teenage alcoholism and drug addiction.

Bolivia Night at Highrock Church

October 2, 2009 -- Highrock Church will be hosting a Bolivia Night on Friday, October 2, during which members from the two teams that volunteered with Kaya Children in Bolivia this summer will be able to share about their experiences working with Kaya. Kristin Huang, Kaya’s Executive Director, will open the night with an overview of the organization, followed by a screening of a new film about Kaya Children made by one of the members of the team.
